Our vineyard is located on beautiful Hollywood Hill, just south of downtown Woodinville and about a mile east of some of the largest wineries in the state of Washington. Nestled on several acres of former horse pasture, we primarily plant Pinot Noir (70%) and Chardonnay (30%). We started planting in 2004 and will complete our planting in 2008 with a 1/2 acre of Chardonnay.
We are growing three clones of Pinot Noir well suited to our climate. Clones 667, 777 and Pommard. The Pinot Noir clones are known for their early ripening, yet yielding high quality wines. The 667 is planted on 101-14 rootstock and the 777 is planted on 3309. We have a small amount of Pommard on 3309. The newest block of 500 vines will probably Pinot Noir Precoce.
The Chardonnay is a single clone, 76 known for its high quality and ability to ripen in cooler climates with more sugar and less acid. All of our vines have been planted on 101-14 and 3309 rootstocks to enhance ripeness and protect against Phylloxera and enhance ripeness
We sell small amounts of cuttings to local people want to start a vineyard. Cuttings are sold from January through April. Prices are $1/cutting + shipping (unless you come to the winery). We have large amounts of Pinot Noir 667 and 777, Chardonnay 76. We have small amounts of Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Garanoir, Dornfelder, Regent, Auxerrois, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Meunier. Please email or call for more information.
Portteus Vineyards - Rattlesnake Hills
AVA
We have been working with Paul Portteus for five years (2008) now and loved fruit every year. The vineyard is now 100% certified Organic and certified Salmon Safe. Grapes that come from their vineyards tend to ripen later due to the higher elevations and soil types resulting in longer hang time with more flavor development. Grapes harvested: Syrah and Cabernet Franc.
Ranch at the end of the Road - Red Mountain AVA
We might as well call this Kiona vineyards. Scott Williams who also owns Kiona vineyards and winery has some of his own property on Red Mountain that he farms. This is usually the first vineyard we get fruit from. Red Mountain is one of the warmest locations in the Yakima valley and that makes grapes that are fruity and full of flavor. Grapes harvested: Syrah
Gilbert Vineyards - Whaluke Slope AVA
2008 marks the 2nd year we've gotten fruit from Gilbert. This is another of our Organically certified vineyards. Gilbert owns several vineyards and we get our from their Doc Stewart vineyards on the Whaluke slope. This is the last of our vineyards to come in as this is a very cool site. We like the depth of flavor and the lower alcohols that come from this vineyards. Grapes Harvested: Syrah and Malbec.
Elerding's Six Prong Vineyard - Horse Heaven Hills
AVA
Nelson
Vineyards - Puget Sound AVA
We are working with Ron Nelson of Nelson Vineyards in Grapeview, WA. Ron is a passionate grape grower who got started about eight years ago by planting cuttings from from our old Maury Island Vineyard. Ron chose to plant the Regent grape after researching its ability to make high quality wines with minimal maintenance. He has around 1 acre in the ground and is thinking about more. In 2007 we got our first harvest from Ron and will release the wine in May 2009.
Q-Block - Puget Sound AVA
With our friend Mike Anderson, we are working some unique land on the floor of the Sammamish Valley. We're leasing around 2 acres of land and will be planting the first vines in 2008. We experimenting with Siegerrebe, Muller-Thurgau and Regent to see which grapes ripen best.
